This weekend The Natchitoches Alligator Farm hosted two free days for its visitors. We have visited the park before, and couldn’t pass up an opportunity to go back.

Now officially called, “Gator Country,” the park took new ownership in 2020.
Although we went on a free weekend, the entrance pass is normally only $10 a person and includes alligator feeding shows, a wading pond where you can wade with tiny alligators (this was my favorite part), the handling of snakes and lizards (if you want), and lots of other cute animals you can pet.
There are also additional paid feeding opportunities that can be really fun too!
The Park is open all year round now, which is great, because formerly you had to wait for summertime to get your gator fix, and my kids love reptiles all year round!
My favorite part of the free day yesterday was the feeding show in the front (we did not get to see the one in the back. There was a storm rolling and we left to go home.)
I learned so much about alligators that I didn’t know! I won’t spoil all the surprises, but did you know that if an alligator chases you the two worst things to do are run in a zig-zag and/or climb a tree? I had been taught these things all my life! (and thankfully never had to use the knowledge)

My other favorite part of the park is its friendly staff and overall vibe. Everyone is so knowledgeable and friendly. And while it has this wonderful hokey roadside attraction feel, it is really smart and well done. I learn something new every time we visit.
If you are ever in or near Natchitoches, Louisiana you should totally check it out!
Also, check out their awesome Youtube Channel!

Thanks for reading. I hope you guys have a great day and lots of happy adventures.
Oh! What should you do if an alligator is chasing you? RUN FAST and keep running. Lol. An alligator can run fast, but not for long. Your best bet is to sprint as fast as you can for as long as you can… or never be chased by an alligator. Good luck!
