This past Sunday, my family and I piled into the car and headed an hour north to go see a “puppy parade” in Shreveport, Louisiana.
It was hosted by the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux, and it was super adorable.
There were lots of pets and their owners dressed up as some of our favorite characters. We saw Beauty and the Beast, Ghostbusters, and even some members of The Hellfire Club from Stranger Things. It was a fun time for everyone involved.
I grew up in north Louisiana and was lucky to get to attend the big parades in Houma many times as a child, but I have to say I hands down prefer a smaller parade with adorable animals than the louder and bigger parades. BUT THAT’S JUST ME!
I have loved every single Mardi Gras parade I have ever attended in Louisiana and know that there is always a lot of effort into making these events special. They are truly an art, and I can appreciate that. I just LOVE animals and oh my goodness, nothing makes me happier than watching adorable animals on parade! (responsibly of course)
I mean just look at all this adorableness!!! I love the creativity that went into these little “floats” for the animals too!

I also was extremely excited to meet another Pelican Publishing author at the event! Her name is Lindsay “Bones” Cordero and her book is called, “The Krewe of Barkus & Meow!” You should check it out!

Every day should have a puppy parade! I know I could sure use one today.
Sending you guys lots of love!
