In 2014 my family took an 18-day trip to 20 states (in the shape of a heart across America). During this trip, we did 1,000 acts of kindness. And then, I wrote an ebook about it. Which you can find here.
(BTW it’s only $2.99, a super great deal!)
It’s been a busy week at our household. We took a day to go out to a local swimming hole and then we had a field trip with a local homeschooling group to some local historical attractions. I also finished my “Shire” medal on The Conqueror app…which means that I finished walking 145 miles since the beginning of this year and will receive a beautiful medal for all my walking. (You can learn more about the challenge here).
I’ve fallen a little behind on blogging…
So let’s get back to this trip already!

Here is the blog entry I wrote on day Six of our trip:
Day 6: Columbus, Ohio
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I am so excited about today’s act of kindness.
Today, for Valentine’s Day, My family and I donated 40 stuffed animals and 25 boxes of Chocolate to UCMH Family Services in Columbus, Ohio.
According to www.childrensrights.org, approximately 400,000 children in America are currently in foster care. On average, most of them will stay in the foster care system for 2 years. And around 80% of those children have emotional trauma.
While I would love to send every kid in foster care a gift on Valentine’s Day to make their day a little better, I am very pleased that I was able to help The UMCH Family Services give out some smiles today to some special children who surely deserve it.
After visiting with UMCH Family Services, we headed to Downtown Columbus to do a little sightseeing before heading to Indiana.
And then, on the way to Indiana, we saw a sign for the Piatt Castles in Logan County, Ohio, so we decided to check them out. We took the side adventure only to find out they were closed, but it was still a pretty good time.

And I got a lot of other fun photographs today on my journeys…
But now for the most important part of Valentine’s Day…spending it with the ones you love!
Thanks for reading!

At the base of all kindness is love.
Valentine’s day seemed like a perfect day to spread kindness to some kids that really needed a little extra love. This was one of my favorite days on the trip.
I believe it was my first day ever tasting a Cherry Dr. Pepper, we got to do an amazing act of kindness, and we took a random side quest to see a castle in the snow.
I’m also pretty sure we got lost that day too. Lol. But it made for some fun sightseeing.

Thank you guys for reading! I hope your days are full of kindness and adventure.
